Chad Rector, Associate Professor in the Department of History and Politics at Marymount University, is the author of Federations: Political Dynamics of Cooperation (Cornell University Press, 2009). He has a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego (2003). His research is on international negotiations among unequal countries where cooperation may be stymied by problems of mistrust. He has also published work in leading political science journals on international financial regulations and national reunification projects in Asia. Two current research projects involve international cooperation on nuclear weapons proliferation and China's approach to creating regional economic and security institutions in East Asia.
